Art
We teach art as an individual subject each week. Our ‘Units of Work’ in art have been carefully crafted by expert teachers across our Five School Partnership. The curriculum is structured so that the children learn through a series of lessons each half term where there is a focus on developing their skills in one area of art and design each half term. The areas taught are: drawing, painting, scupture, printing, collage and textiles and digital media. Within each topic are the children are taught and practise the relevant skills and each year they revisit the topic, deepen their understanding and develop their competency. The children are given the opportunity to learn and use a wide range of different strategies and techniques. They will reflect on their prior experiences and build on their skills and understanding as they move through the year groups.
